TheWest Branch Moose River is a shorttributary of theSouth Branch Moose River inFranklin County,Maine. Its source (45°25′58″N70°37′46″W / 45.4328°N 70.6294°W /45.4328; -70.6294 (West Branch Moose River source)) is on Caribou Mountain inMerrill Strip (MaineTownship 2, Range 7, WBKP), about 2,000 feet (600 m) from theCanada–United States border, which runs along theheight of land between thewatersheds of theKennebec River in Maine and theChaudière River inQuebec. From there, the river runs 5.9 miles (9.5 km)[1] northeast to its confluence with theMoose River's South Branch inSkinner (T1, R7, WBKP).
