TheWerre (German pronunciation:[ˈvɛʁə]) is ariver in theDetmold region (Regierungsbezirk) ofNorth Rhine-Westphalia,Germany, left tributary of theWeser. Its source is nearHorn-Bad Meinberg. The total length of the Werre is 71.9 km.[1]
The Werre flows generally north through the townsDetmold,Lage,Bad Salzuflen,Herford andLöhne. It flows into theWeser close toBad Oeynhausen. It crosses the districts ofLippe,Herford andMinden-Lübbecke.
TheBowerre is a former branch of the river Werre inHerford, which previously formed the border between the Altstadt (old town) and Neustadt (new town). It was filled in 1972.[2]
