Werner Eck (born 17 December 1939) is professor of Ancient History atCologne University, Germany, and a noted expert on the history andepigraphy of imperial Rome.^[1] His main interests are theprosopography of the Roman ruling class (magistrates, Senate) and the ancient city ofCologne,Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium. He also researched theBar Kokhba revolt from the Roman point of view.^[2]
