Werner Camichel (26 January 1945 – 27 March 2006 inSamaden) is aSwissbobsledder who competed in the 1970s. He won the gold medal in the four-man event at the1972 Winter Olympics inSapporo.[1]

Camichel also won two gold medals in the four-man event at theFIBT World Championships, winning them in1973 and1975.

Camichel carried the Swiss flag during the opening ceremonies of the1976 Winter Olympics inInnsbruck. He later managed thebobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track inSt. Moritz.

Camichel died from cancer in 2006.[2]

His sons Corsin Camichel andDuri Camichel were ice hockey players.
