TheWelaka State Forest is in theU.S. state ofFlorida. The 2,287-acre (9 km2) forest is located inNorth Central Florida, upstream fromWelaka on the eastern bank of theSt. Johns River. Welaka State Forest is adjacent to theMount Royal site discussed byWilliam Bartram in chapter 4 ofBartram's Travels.[1]
Welaka State Forest is located alongPutnam County Road 309 between two portions of theWelaka National Fish Hatchery. The Beecher Unit which is located inFruitland and the Welaka Unit located in Welaka.[2]
