Wedge (∧) is asymbol that looks similar to an in-linecaret (^). It is used to represent variousoperations. InUnicode, the symbol is encodedU+2227 ∧LOGICAL AND (∧, ∧) and by\wedge and\land inTeX. The opposite symbol (∨) is called avel, or sometimes a (descending) wedge. Some authors who call the descending wedgevel often call the ascending wedgeac (the corresponding Latin word for "and", also spelled "atque"), keeping their usage parallel.
