Wataru Kamijo (/wəˈtɑːrkəˈm/wə-TAR-oo kə-MEE-joh;[1][a] born 17 April 2006) is an Australian professionalsoccer player who plays as adefensive midfielder forA-League Men clubSydney FC. He has represented Australia as a youth international.[2]

Early life

Kamijo was born on 17 April 2006 inNagoya, Japan,[3] to aKorean mother and aJapanese father.[4] Growing up, he attended elementary school in South Korea for one year.[5]

Kamijo was promoted to Sydney FC's first team in the2023–24 A-League Men season.[2] He made his debut for the club in a 4–1 win over Philippine sideKaya F.C.–Iloilo inManila in thegroup stage of theAFC Champions League Two on 3 October 2024.[6]
