Television StudiosThe logo ofWarner Music Group, which derives its name from its flagship subsidiary,Warner Records (formerly known as Warner Bros. Records). It was previously in common ownership with Warner Bros. prior to the divestiture of the former in 2004. as of 2026[update], it is the only corporation still using the Warner name.
As of 2026,Warner Bros. Discovery owns the motion picture and television assets derived from the original Warner Bros. studio, while the latter's original recorded music arm,Warner Records (formerly known as Warner Bros. Records), now a flagship subsidiary ofWarner Music Group, has been independently owned since 2004. Several other former subsidiaries and divisions have been spun off or sold, but no longer use the Warner name.
In the mid-2000s, Time Warner spun off or sold several Warner-derived or branded divisions as independent companies, most notablyWarner Music Group (which remains independent as of 2026[update])[10] and Time Warner Cable (later acquired byCharter Communications),[10] while Warner Books was sold toHachette Livre.[10] During this time, Time Warner's film and television assets were incorporated into a newWarner Bros. Entertainment subsidiary on December 3, 2002.[11]
^Pronounced "Warner Brothers".[2] The abbreviated form is always used in writing, except when referring to the four Warner brothers themselves.[3] It is never read out loud as "Warner Bros" (-BROHZ or similarly); the opening voiceover ofThe Lego Batman Movie (2017) alludes to this common mistake.[4]
