Walter Adolph McCreery (13 August 1871 inZürich – 8 November 1922 inClermont-Ferrand) was an AmericanPolo player who competed in the1900 Summer Olympics. He received the silver medal in theMixed team event.[1][2]

Biography

He was privately educated in theUnited States and then readlaw atMagdalene College, Cambridge, achieving asecond-class degree.[3]

He was the father ofGeneral SirRichard McCreery, a career soldier of theBritish Army who commanded theBritish Eighth Army fighting in theItalian campaign from October 1944 until the end of theSecond World War.
