Walter Anthony (February 13, 1872 inStockton, California – May 1, 1945 inHollywood, California) was a screenplay, titles, and documentary film writer. Before Walter started writing in films he was a dramatic and musical critic forThe San Francisco Call[citation needed],San Francisco Chronicle, andSeattle Post-Intelligencer.[1] At the time he came to work for thePost-Intelligencer in 1919, Seattle magazineThe Town Crier described him as, "one of the few really authoritative critics of music and the drama in America."[1] Writing in 1942 in a guest column forWalter Winchell,Lionel Barrymore singled out Anthony among the "great stage critics."[2]
