WXKB (103.9FM) is acommercial radio station licensed toCape Coral, Florida, and serving theFort Myers-Naplesradio market andSouthwest Florida.[2] WXKB is owned by theBeasley Broadcast Group and airs acontemporary hit radioformat branded as "B-103.9", sometimes called "The Killer B." In afternoondrive time it carriesOn Air with Ryan Seacrest,syndicated byPremiere Networks.

WXKB has studios and offices on South Tamiami Trail inEstero.[3] Thetransmitter is off Carter Road, also in Estero. WXKB broadcasts usingHD Radio technology. Thedigital subchannel feeds FMtranslator stations W243BM inSuncoast Estates at 96.5 MHz,[4] W268AH inBonita Springs at 101.5 MHz[5] and W286AK inNaples at 105.1 MHz,[6]

History

The station firstsigned on in 1975 as WRCC.[7] Originally it was powered with 3,000 watts as aClass A station. It has since boosted its power to 100,000 watts as aClass C station. WRCC carried aclassical music format.

The station had several format changes throughout the years. From 1981 until 1984, the station ran aneasy listening,middle of the road (MOR) format. From 1984 until 1990, it playedadult contemporary music.

In 1990, itscall sign was changed to WAKS. The frequency moved one notch to 103.7 FM and it began running aclassic rock format. This lasted until 1993, when the station returned back to its 103.9 frequency, changed its call sign to WXKB, and it flipped toCHR hits. This was shortly after competitor 96.9WINK-FM dropped CHR for hot adult contemporary during the same year.

HD Radio

On July 9, 2021, WXKB-HD2 began broadcasting aclassic hip hop format, branded as "96.5/101.5 The Bounce." It issimulcast onFM translators W243BM at 96.5 FM, W268AH at 101.5 FM and W286AK at 105.1 FM.[8]

On September 22, 2023, WXKB-HD2 flipped to an all-podcast format, as part of Beasley's "Podcast Radio US" network.[9]

WXKB's HD3 subchannel rebroadcasts thesports radio format on co-ownedWBCN 770 AM.
