WROK-FM (95.9MHz, "The Rocket") is a commercialFM radio stationlicensed toSebastian, Florida, serving theSpace Coast andTreasure Coast areas. The station is owned byCumulus Media and airs aclassic rockformat.

WROK-FM has its studios and offices on West Hibiscus Blvd in Melbourne. Thetransmitter is off Micco Road near Sebastian.[2] The station has aconstruction permit from theFederal Communications Commission to increase itsantenna height while slightly decreasing itseffective radiated power.[3] WROK-FM is not associated withWROK (AM) inRockford, Illinois, which is owned byTownsquare Media.

History

The station originallysigned on under thecall sign WINT on September 20, 2001, and branded itself95.9 The Point. At the time, the station featured abig band andadult standards format. In 2003, WINT changed its call sign to WSJZ, to reflect its newsmooth jazz format, and became known asSmooth Jazz 95.9. On April 1, 2004, the station changed to aclassic andalternative rock format, calling itself asPirate 95.9. On September 3, 2009, WSJZ-FM became the newESPN Radio station for the Space Coast, featuring asports radio format, and rebranding itself asESPN 95.9. Before then, the Space Coast's ESPN Radioaffiliate wassister station WINT (laterWLZR).

On April 1, 2015, at 6 p.m., WSJZ changed its format from sports toactive rock, branded as "95 Rock".[4] On February 1, 2016, the station dropped the active rock format for classic rock. On May 31, 2016, WSJZ changed its call letters to WROK-FM. On June 11, 2018, WROK-FM rebranded as "95.9 The Rocket".[5]
