WKGL-FM (96.7MHz "96.7 The Eagle") is aradio station serving theRockford, Illinois, area with aclassic rock format. It is under ownership ofTownsquare Media. Prior to being WKGL-FM, the station had anoldies format as WKMQ-FM and acountry format as WLUV-FM.
On August 30, 2013, a deal was announced in which Townsquare would acquire 53Cumulus Media stations, including WKGL-FM, for $238 million. The deal was part of Cumulus' acquisition ofDial Global; Townsquare and Dial Global were both controlled byOaktree Capital Management.[2][3] The sale to Townsquare was completed on November 14, 2013.[4]
