WCDX (92.1FM) is anurban contemporary formattedbroadcastradio station licensed toMechanicsville, Virginia, serving theRichmond/Petersburg area.[1] WCDX is owned and operated byUrban One.[4] The station's studios and offices are located just north of Richmond proper on Emerywood Parkway[5] in unincorporatedHenrico County, and itstransmitter is located separately a mile east of the studios.[6]
WCDX is licensed by theFCC to broadcast in theHD Radio format.[7][8]
Juan Conde, who later became evening news anchor for local ABC affiliateWRIC-TV, was WCDX's morning man for most of the 1990s.[9]
In addition to the main station, WCDX is relayed by an FM translator to widen its broadcast area.[10] The translator was launched on November 17, 2015, and is primarily directed at thePetersburg area.[11]
