History

The company, W. H. Freeman and Company Publishing[1] was founded in 1946 byWilliam H. Freeman Jr.,[2] who had been a salesman and editor atMacmillan Publishing.

Freeman later foundedFreeman, Cooper and Company in San Francisco.[3][4][5][6]
