Volleyball at theSummer Paralympics was first held in1976, when the traditional form of standing volleyball for men was contested andsitting volleyball for men was ademonstration sport. From1980 through2000, men's standing and sitting events were contested.[1] The women's sitting volleyball event was introduced in2004.
