Vlorë District (Albanian:Rrethi i Vlorës) was one of the 36districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 newly createdcounties. It had a population of 147,267 in 2001, and an area of 1,609 km2 (621 sq mi).[1] It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital was the city ofVlorë. Its territory is now part ofVlorë County: themunicipalities ofVlorë,Selenicë andHimara (partly). Its population included aGreek minority.[2][3]
