Vladimir Arkadyevich Krasnopolsky (Russian:Влади́мир Арка́дьевич Краснопо́льский; 14 June 1933 – 23 September 2022) was a Russian film director, producer, and screenwriter.[1]

Biography

Krasnopolsky was born inSverdlovsk on 14 June 1933 to artist Arkady Vladimirovich Krasnopolsky.[2] In 1955, he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology atUral State University and fromGerasimov Institute of Cinematography in 1963. From 1961 to 1963, he was director of theSverdlovsk Film Studio. In 1964, he became director ofMosfilm. In 1971, he joined theCommunist Party of the Soviet Union.

From 1963 to 2015, he directed and wrote all of his films alongside his second cousin,Valery Uskov.[3][4] They went their separate ways in 2016.

Krasnopolsky died inMoscow on 23 September 2022, at the age of 89.[5]
