It is found in the province ofYunnan inChina, where it is known by the namemeng zi pu tao, meaningMengzi orMengtze grape.[1] The specific epithetmengziensis and vernacular Chinese name refer toMengzi, a county in the southeast of Yunnan. It grows intemperate rainforests, at elevations near 1600 meters.[1]
