Vital Records Act of 1977

1977 Tennessee law

TheVital Records Act of 1977 is aTennesseestatute that prohibits individuals from changing theirsex on the originalbirth certificate as a result ofsex change surgery. Tennessee is the only state specifically forbidding the correction ofsex designations on birth certificates oftransgender people.[1][2]
