Visitors toBosnia and Herzegovina must obtain avisa from one of theBosnia and Herzegovina diplomatic missions unless they are citizens of one of the visa-exempt countries.
As an applicant country for membership in theEuropean Union, Bosnia and Herzegovina maintains visa policy similar to thevisa policy of the Schengen Area.
Bosnia and Herzegovina grants visa-free entry to all Schengen Annex II nationalities exceptKosovo and it also grants visa-free entry to several additional countries -Azerbaijan,China,Kuwait,Oman,Qatar,Russia andTurkey.

Holders of ordinary passports of the following countries and territories (including resident stateless persons and refugees) may enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa for the following period:[1][2]
90 days 90 days within any 180 days 90 days within any 6 months 30 days within any 60 days 30 days in period between 1 June and 30 September[3] |
ID - May enter with an ID card (including Irish passport card) in lieu of a passport.
# - Up to a maximum stay of 180 days per year.
Valid multiple entry visa holders and residents of theEuropean Union,Schengen Area member states, andUnited States of America can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa for a maximum stay of 30 days.[4][5] This is not applicable to holders ofKosovan passport.[6]
In addition to countries whose citizens are visa-exempt, holders of diplomatic or official/service passports ofBelarus,China,Cuba,Egypt,Indonesia,Iran,Jordan,Kazakhstan,Moldova,Pakistan,Saudi Arabia andTunisia and holders of only diplomatic passports ofAlgeria andArmenia do not require a visa for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Visa is also not required for stateless persons and refugees residing in countries whose citizens do not require a visa for Bosnia and Herzegovina (except for countries of Central and South America and the Caribbean).[7]
Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens may enter without a visa some of the countries whose citizens are granted visa-free access to Bosnia and Herzegovina but require a visa forAntigua and Barbuda,Australia,Barbados,Brunei,Canada,Costa Rica,El Salvador,Grenada (grants visa on arrival),Guatemala,Honduras,Ireland,Israel,Japan,Kiribati,Kuwait,Mauritius (grants visa on arrival),Marshall Islands,Mexico,New Zealand,Nicaragua,Paraguay,Qatar,Saint Kitts and Nevis,Solomon Islands,Taiwan (grants eVisa),Timor-Leste,Tonga,Tuvalu (grants visa on arrival),United Kingdom,United States,Uruguay,Vanuatu andVenezuela.
