Vincent Thomas KeavenyCBE KStJ (born 1 July 1965) is anIrishcommerciallawyer who served as the693rdLord Mayor of London for 2021–22.[1][2][3]
Educated atSt Michael's College,University College Dublin, andTrinity College Dublin, since 1989 Keaveny has lived and worked inEngland, qualifying as asolicitor in 1992.[4] He took the degree ofBachelor of Civil Law from University College Dublin in 1986, and has been a partner inDLA Piper since 2015.[5]
Keaveny serves asAlderman for theWard ofFarringdon Within since 2013, and served as aSheriff of the City of London for 2018–19. He is aliveryman of theCity of London Solicitors' Company, theWorshipful Company of Woolmen, theDistillers, theSpectacle Makers, theStationers and Newspaper Makers, theFramework Knitters, theUpholders, and theSecurity Professionals.[1]
In 2018 Keaveny was awarded theUCD Alumni Award in Law.[6]
Elected Lord Mayor of London, Keaveny took office on 13 November 2021,[4][5] being appointedKStJ.[7]
AldermanNicholas Lyons succeeded him asLord Mayor on 11 November 2022.[8][9]
Vincent Keaveny is a Member of theOrder of the Holy Sepulchre.[10]
Keaveny was appointedCommander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the2023 Birthday Honours for services to socio-economic advancement, British–Irish relations and the City of London.[11]
