TheVille-Haute (French pronunciation:[vilot];Luxembourgish:Uewerstad,pronounced[ˈu̯əvɐʃtaːt]ⓘ;German:Oberstadt,pronounced[ˈoːbɐʃtat];alllit. 'High City') is adistrict in centralLuxembourg City, in southernLuxembourg. It is thehistoric center of Luxembourg City and is involved in its UNESCOWorld Heritage Site status.[citation needed] As of 31 December 2025[update], the Ville-Haute has a population of 3,513 inhabitants.[2]
The Ville-Haute is home to prestigious squares, buildings and monuments such asPlace Guillaume II,Place d'Armes,Notre-Dame Cathedral andGrand Ducal Palace, as well as many government institutions. TheGëlle Fra Monument of Remembrancewar memorial is situated on Place de la Constitution.
