Vijay Prakash Singh, also known asVijay Prakash, is an Indiangastroenterologist[1] and the Head of Department of Gastroenterology atPatna Medical College,Bihar.[2][3][4][5] He was honoured by theGovernment of India in 2003 withPadma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, and only the 7th doctor inBihar state to receive the award.[6][7]

Life

Prakash was born inBanka.[8] He is reported to have contributed to the establishment of the department of gastroenterology at the medical college and atIndira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS).[9] He is also involved with BIG Hospital Institute of Gastroenterology as the chief gastroenterologist and medical director.[9] He is a member of the executive council of theMedical Council of India[10][11] and a member of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology.[12] He is the author of several medical research papers, published in peer-reviewed journals.[7]

He has given talks onhepatitis[13] andnon-alcoholic steato-hepatitis (NASH): a severe form of non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).[14]
