Vidyanand Saraik (born 26 June 1941) is a Pahari litterateur and folk artist. In 2022, he was awardedPadma Shri by theIndian Government for his contribution inliterature andfolk.[1]
Sarek is born on June 26, 1941. He is fromRajgarh inSirmaur district.[2] At the age of 8 years he sang from All India Radio, New Delhi.[3]
Sarek started his career in 1957 when he was in Class VIII and participated in a folk dance competition organised byAll India Radio in Delhi.He has translated 51 poems of Rabindranath Tagore as part of a Central government project. He has also translated has translated 18 chapters of theGita into Sirmauri language.[2][4]
