Veronica Paiz is an AmericanDemocratic politician fromMichigan. She has been a member of theMichigan House of Representatives since 2023,[1] currently representing the10th district. She previously served on the city council ofHarper Woods, Michigan.[2]

Early life and education

Paiz is a second-generationMexican American.[2] She has aBFA degree fromWayne State University and aMA degree fromNew York University.[3][4]

Political career

Paiz was a member of theHarper Woods, Michigan City Council from 2015 to 2022.[5] She was a member of the Harper Woods Library Board and Recreation Advisory Board.[5]

Paiz was elected as a Democrat to theMichigan House of Representatives from the11th district in the2022 election.[6]

Following court-mandated redistricting of the Detroit area,[7] Paiz ran in the10th district for the2024 election, winning reelection.[8]

In 2024, Paiz andCarol Glanville sponsored legislation to shield Michigan public libraries frombook bans.[9]
