Vernon Leroy Maxwell (born October 25, 1961) is an American former professionalfootball player who was alinebacker for seven seasons in theNational Football League (NFL) during the 1980s. Maxwell playedcollege football for theArizona State Sun Devils, earning consensusAll-American honors in 1982. He played professionally for theBaltimore/Indianapolis Colts,Detroit Lions andSeattle Seahawks, and was recognized as theNFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
