Veratrole alcohol (veratryl alcohol) is anorganic compound related toveratrole and also tobenzyl alcohol. It can be obtained by reduction ofveratraldehyde.[2] Veratrole alcohol is the raw material for the synthesis ofcyclotriveratrylene which is used inhost–guest chemistry.It is a secondary metabolite of somewhite rot fungi and is believed to play a role in their degradation of lignin.[3]
