Venzy Viegas (born 9 August 1977)[1] is an Indian politician and formermerchant navy officer[2] who serves as a member of theGoa Legislative Assembly, representing theBenaulim Assembly constituency. A member of theAam Aadmi Party (AAP), he was elected as theMLA fromBenaulim in the2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election.[3][4] Viegas was appointed the legislative party leader of AAP in Goa Assembly in March 2022.[5]
Viegas graduated with the Highest Nautical Diploma in Nautical Science fromSouth Tyneside College, South Shields, United Kingdom in 2011.[citation needed]
Veigas is a merchant navy mariner with 17 years of sailing experience in tanker vessels.[citation needed]
In 2022 he defeatedChurchill Alemao (former Chief Minister of Goa), and won by a margin of 1,271 votes in theBenaulim Assembly constituency. Viegas was also appointed the Working President forAAP in May 2022.
