The2028 Summer Olympics are scheduled to be held inLos Angeles,California, United States, from July 14–30, 2028. The Games will be hosted in and aroundGreater Los Angeles andLos Angeles County. The city'sbid relied on a majority of existing venues and venues that had already been under construction or were planned regardless of the Games. The majority of venues are divided into clusters known as "sports parks", situated inDowntown Los Angeles, theSan Fernando Valley,Carson (atCalifornia State University, Dominguez Hills), andLong Beach.[1][2] No new permanent venues are being built specifically for the Games.
TheLos Angeles Memorial Coliseum and theRose Bowl will hostathletics andfootball (soccer), respectively.[3] Both will become the first stadiums to have ever hosted three different Olympiads.[4][5]BMO Stadium, which opened in 2018 as the home ofMajor League Soccer'sLos Angeles FC, will host flag football and lacrosse. TheUniversity of California, Los Angeles will house theOlympic Village, whileUSC will house the Olympic Media Village.[6][7][8][9]Riviera Country Club will host golf.[10]Oklahoma City,Oklahoma will host the events forsoftball andcanoe slalom.[11]
The 2017 venue plan proposed holding the opening ceremonies at bothSoFi Stadium and the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, in an acknowledgement of the Coliseum's role in the 1932 and 1984 Olympics. SoFi Stadium opened in 2020 as the home of theNFL'sLos Angeles Rams andLos Angeles Chargers. It will host swimming, becoming the largest swimming venue in Olympic history.[3] SoFi Stadium is expected to serve as the main ceremonies venue, and the Los Angeles Organizing Committee will incorporate the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum into the opening ceremonies' protocol in a dual-venue format.[2][12][13] The closing ceremony will be held at the Coliseum. LA28 confirmed the official ceremonies plan on May 8, 2025.[14]
The venues listed in this article were announced at various times leading up to the Games. The most recent update to the Olympic venue plan was submitted to the IOC on April 9, 2025, and publicly announced on April 15, 2025.[15][16][17][18][19][20] The Paralympic venue plan was announced on June 3, 2025.[21]
For the first time in Olympic and Paralympic history, venues will be permitted to carrynaming rights. Existing venues that already bear the names of Olympic partners may retain those names, while venues sponsored companies not affiliated with the Olympics will be referred to by a generic alternate name under the IOC's standard policy.
