Velike Brusnice (pronounced[ˈʋeːlikɛbɾuˈsniːtsɛ]) is a settlement at the foothills of theGorjanci range to the east ofNovo Mesto in southeasternSlovenia. The entireCity Municipality of Novo Mesto is part of the traditional region ofLower Carniola and is now included in theSoutheast Slovenia Statistical Region.[2]
Theparish church in the village is dedicated to theHoly Cross and belongs to theRoman Catholic Diocese of Novo Mesto. It was built in 1846 in theBaroque style.[3] The restoration expertFranc Avsec served as parish priest here from 1899 to 1900. A second church in the settlement is dedicated to theHoly Family. It is aRomanesque building with a mid-15th-centurywall painting ofSaint Christopher on the south exterior wall of thenave. It was extended in the late 16th to early 17th centuries.[4]
