TheVasse River is ariver in theSouth West ofWestern Australia.
The headwaters of the river are in theWhicher Range below Chapman Hill and it flows in a northerly direction through the city ofBusselton until discharging into theVasse Estuary and then theIndian Ocean via Wonnerup Inlet andGeographe Bay.
The river is named after French seamanThomas (Timothée) Vasse, who disappeared in the area in June 1801 duringNicolas Baudin's expedition.
It is estimated that 81.5% of the Vasse River catchment has been cleared.[3]
