River Vashishti is one of the larger rivers in theKonkancoast of Maharashtra, India. The river begins in theWestern Ghats and snakes its way westwards towards theArabian Sea.Kolkewadi Dam nearAlore has a vastreservoir, which feeds atributary of the river.

Thetown ofChiplun lies on its banks. During the2005 Maharashtra floods, the river swelled its banks, causing many of the city's residents to evacuate it.

The river has manyriverineislands.Mugger crocodiles[1][2] are known to inhabit the waters.[3]
