TheNorwegian Directorate of Elections (Norwegian:Valgdirektoratet) is agovernment agency subordinate theMinistry of Local Government and Regional Development. Anelection commission, it is responsible for coordinating and managing national and local elections inNorway. The operative aspects of the election are conducted by themunicipalities.[1]
The agency is located inTønsberg, where it shares premises with theNorwegian Directorate for Civil Protection. The agency was established on 1 January 2016. The first election it oversaw were the jointly held2017 Norwegian parliamentary election and the2017 Norwegian Sámi parliamentary election on 11 September 2017.[1]
