TheValdostan Alliance (French:Alliance valdôtaine,AV) was aregionalist andprogressivepolitical party active inAosta Valley,Italy.
The party was formed in 2019 by the merger of theProgressive Valdostan Union (UVP) andAutonomy Liberty Participation Ecology (ALPE).[3][4] AV was soon involved in theAutonomies and Environment Pact (AeA)[5] and theEuropean Free Alliance (EFA).
In the2020 regional election, the party, in a joint list withEdelweiss (SA), obtained 8.9% of the vote and four seats: two for SA, one for UVP'sLuigi Bertschy and one for ALPE'sAlbert Chatrian. After the election, the AV joined a regionalist/centre-left government led byErik Lavévaz of theValdostan Union (UV), comprising the UV, theDemocratic Party (PD),Civic Network (RC), SA andMouv'. Bertschy was appointed Vice President as well as minister of Economic Development, Formation and Labour, while SA'sCarlo Marzi was minister of Finances, Innovation, Public Works and Land issues.[6][7][8] AV and SA soon broke, with the former joining forces with United Aosta Valley, mainly comprising Mouv'.[9][10]
In 2023, AV joined a new government led by UV'sRenzo Testolin, which, differently from Lavévaz's, comprised alsoFor Autonomy (PlA).[11][12]
In late 2023, AV and Mouv' started a merging process into the UV.[13][14][15][16] As of early AV was no longer a member of theEuropean Free Alliance, which had been re-joined by the UV,[17] and the AeA stated that UV would inherit AV's "founding member" status, if it joined.[18] In June 2024, at an extraordinary congress of the UV, the reunion was finally approved.[19][20][21][22]
