TheValais shrew (Sorex antinorii) is a species ofmammal in the familySoricidae.[2]
Itskaryotype has2n = 24/25 andFN = 40. Until 2002, it was viewed as a chromosomal race of the wide-ranging and karyotypicallypolymorphic speciesS. araneus.[1]
It is found in all of Italy except southernApulia, in southeasternFrance, and in southernSwitzerland. This species prefers areas with dense vegetation, at an elevation of 0–1,300 metres (0–4,265 ft) above sea level.
