Vaires-sur-Marne is at the western end of theLGV Est high-speed railway, reachingVendenheim (nearStrasbourg) in the east.Vaires–Torcy station has rail connections toMeaux and Paris. It was spectacularly blown up inJohn Frankenheimer's 1964 filmThe Train.

It was one of the venues for the2024 Summer Olympics.[3]
