V. T. Murali is an Indian playback singer and music critic fromKerala. He is known for many songs including the song "Othu palliyilannu nammal" composed byPadma ShriK. Raghavan from the movieThenthulli directed by National award-winning directorK. P. Kumaran. He was a former board member of Kerala State Film Development. Corporation.[1] He is also the president of K Raghavan master Award foundation[2][3] As a music critic, Murali has written 12 books.[4]
He was born to V. T. Kumaran and Santha.[5]
Vadakara Krishnadasan Master taught himthe basics of music.[4] In his music, Murali has sung in many local plays.[4] After his undergraduate degree at Madappally College, he passedGana Bhushanam course fromSwathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram.[5] Later, he became a student ofK. V. Narayanaswamy, V. Rajan Iyer and V. Krishnamurthy of Madras Music College, Palakkad.[4] The first film to be sung was in 1979.[4] A communist follower, he has sung in many plays ofKPAC.[4] He sang for drama troupes like KPAC, Thiruvananthapuram Sangh Chetana and Kozhikode Kalinga.[4]
Currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Kerala Sangeethanataka Akademi, he was earlier a member of the General Council of the Kerala Sangeethanataka Akademi and the Director of theKerala State Film Development Corporation.[4]
He and his wife Sasikala have 2 daughters.[5] They lives in their houseManjima at Vadakara, Kozhikode district.[5]
