Vísir.is is anIcelandiconline newspaper. It was founded in 1998 by Frjáls fjölmiðlun ehf and officially opened on 1 April the same year.[1] It originally published news from the newspapersDagblaðið Vísir,Viðskiptablaðið andDagur.[2][3] On 1 December 2017 it was bought by Fjarskipti hf. (laterSýn) along withStöð 2 andBylgjan from365 miðlar.[4]

According toGallup, it was the second-most popular website in Iceland as of February 2021.[5]
