TheUtica–Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by theUnited States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties inCentral New York anchored by the cities ofUtica andRome (both inOneida County). As of the2020 census, the MSA had a population of 292,264.

As of thecensus[2] of 2020, there were 299,896 people residing within the MSA. The racial makeup of the MSA was 82.2%White, 5.8%African American, 0.3%Native American, 3.8%Asian, 0.1%<Pacific Islander, 2.2% fromother races, and 5.7% from two or more races.Hispanic orLatino of any race were 5.7% of the population.

In 2000, the median income for a household in the MSA was $34,417, and the median income for a family was $42,956. Males had a median income of $31,051 versus $22,907 for females. Theper capita income for the MSA was $17,329.
