Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Stephanie BINK, andwelcome to Wikipedia! Thank you foryour contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have aconflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in aneutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. Seeour help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to askanyone from this list and they willcopy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunatelybe blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to haveusernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you shouldrequest a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, youmust disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with ourterms of use and ourpolicy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being aWikipedian! Pleasesign your messages ontalk pages using fourtildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visitthe Teahouse, check outWikipedia:Questions, ask me onmy talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place{{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦10:20, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Stephanie BINK. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia'smandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category ofconflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests.Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies onneutral point of view and whatWikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; theWikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin toblack-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on thetalk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through thearticles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you arerequired by theWikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page atUser:Stephanie BINK. The template{{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form:{{paid|user=Stephanie BINK|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case,do not edit further until you answer this message.
I note your comment about employment and COI on your user page. This is the formal question to ask you to state formally that you are a paid editor. It gives you the form to choose.

Thanks for your input! I had a COI disclosure statement on my user page, but of course I don't want to leave any room for confusion so I have gone ahead and added it in as another layer of disclosure.Stephanie BINK (talk)15:21, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission atArticles for creation:Michael Rea (businessman) (January 18)

[edit]
Your recent article submission toArticles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Timtrent was:
This submission's references do not show that the subjectqualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not showsignificant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject inpublished, reliable, secondary sources that areindependent of the subject (see theguidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (seetechnical help and learn aboutmistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
References notwithstanding, why is Rae notable? As a paid editor for a PR company you ought to be on top of this before submitting for review. I see aWP:ROTM businessman doing their job. Writing his LinkedIn resumé here is not going to be useful. Wikipedia isnot a directory of business people.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmitafter they have been resolved.

HelloUser:Timtrent! Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate the link to the ROTM essay, which I've reviewed, but I submitted a draft I thought demonstrated notability by using multiple reliable sources with in-depth coverage specifically focused on Rea, such asThe Financial Times,The La Crosse Tribune, andBloomberg News. Did you have any concerns aside from the claim of notability not being clear enough? Or are any of the sources unacceptable on Wikipedia? I'd appreciate any feedback as I continue working on the draft. Thanks!Stephanie BINK (talk)21:38, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Media coverage does not render a ROTM individual notable, I'm afraid. Notabity must speak for itself.
If I find press coverage about me that does not make me notable if it has covered me for ROTM things. Just doing my job would never have been a notable thing.
I am aware I have not answered your question, but I believe that your salary covers the research you need to do. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦21:53, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Paid editors

[edit]

As a paid editor you are expected as part of your remuneration to abide by all of the rules. You are paid to discover, learn, understand, and implement all relevant rules, policies, and procedures. Further, you are paid to write neutral and correctly referenced prose which passes these criteria. This is an amateur project. Amateur editors do not generally feel the need to assist paid editors to receive their pay.

I am not averse to good paid editors. If you can write good, neutral, well referenced prose as a draft and submit it for review and acceptance, and receive payment for doing so, then good for you. I welcome you here

However

If you want to use theWP:AFC process to submit your draftmore than once, thinking in your error that we will help you get paid, then you have another think coming.

If you are unable to create a draft that requiresmore than one corrective review, then I do not welcome you here. The only advice I will offer will be within my reviews. I will not otherwise help you to get paid.

If you create your draft as a live article or move your draft to become a live article, then you will discover that this is agaisnt the terms of being a paid editor. 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸19:39, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
