Wikification

[edit]

Hi, Sesameball. Thanks for your help in clearing the wikification backlog. Hopefully we'll get the December backlog finished by the end of this month. When wikifying articles, please be sure to add internal links ("wiki-links") to articles. Along with reformatting, general clean-up and tagging, this will complete the wikification process for each article. Cheers. –Liveste07:02, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing - I think I've been a little conservative with it to avoid over-linking, but I'll pay attention to this area. Thanks! --Sesameball18:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the PROD info

[edit]

I've been a little preoccupied but I wanted to get back to you about the informative note you left on my talk page. I think you were responding to my comment onWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yeremi Vargas where I wasn't sure about putting a PROD on the article. What I meant to say was that I wasn't sure how to switch to a PROD in the middle of an AfD. That is, do I close the AfD? Is there a template to add to the AfD page to indicate doing this? My question was more about the transition between the two rather than the PROD process itself. I know how to do a PROD, it was just the particular situation that was confusing me. I'm thinking it's not that important. I'll just let it play out in AfD and worry about it if there's no definitive outcome. Anyway, thanks for the info and help. Happy editing.Pigman/18:16, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I understand now - totally misinterpreted the statement you made on theVargas AfD. I should have realized from your user and talk pages you are very experienced on wiki. I will say that I have seen AfDs that have been closed with the reason that it was withdrawn by nominator, but I don't know if that is necessarily a standard or accepted practice. If it is, then that might be a way to go back from AfD to prod. Better to ask an experienced admin to be safe, I suppose. :P Good luck with your RfA, btw! --Talk18:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I think I might take a backseat for now, until some admins become involved - it's becoming obvious that nothing we say or do will make the user in question understand what wikipedia is about (and, perhaps more importantly, what it'snot about). I'll keep an eye for continued vandalism to your user/talk pages, though. --SesameballTalk02:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thx in advance. It's always fun when this type of thing pops up, isn't it? (and Bellagio still needs to be reverted). The good thing is that some admins popped into take a look as well. Vegaswikipidian is a good egg, and he tries to stay on top of all the various Vegas articles anyway so it was just a matter of time before he noticed in general. why you continue to destroy juninho page???????!!!!!!!look this video the 36 freekicks of juninho!!!!!!!!!http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=8wIeNT2Cc0k—Precedingunsigned comment added by87.16.131.219 (talk)22:09, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the same vein, why do you continue to try to use youtube to replace a verified, reputable source? I personally made the effort to find that source so that previously-unreferenced claims could remain; to describe such an act as "destruction" is disingenuous. And why do you insist on removing fact tags from articles? Learn to play nice. --SesameballTalk23:24, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

juninho page

[edit]

Hi there, i feel i am providing a point of view which the public will appreciate and further underlines the fact that juninho is an amazing long ball specialist. I don't feel that i am providing false information or a biased view on his ability because, looking at the facts, 89 goals out of 262 caps ratio-wise is alot better than the other players i have mentioned.—Precedingunsigned comment added byLeungM (talkcontribs)19:53, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please check the wikipedia policies and guidelines I have already posted on your talk page. Wikipedia is anencyclopedia, and therefore there are many things it is not. --SesameballTalk22:21, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I don't have time to keep reverting what I wrote so I'm not even going to try, I'll try to be polite and not just plain stubborn. Yes, agreed, Wikipedia articles need to contain pure dedicated facts on its subject, but what I'm trying to do is add a little bit extra detail, a 'wow' factor to engage readers. Whenever, i go browsing on wikipedia for football players, all I read is reams of useless statistical information blah blah blah that when i read about someone as exciting as juninho i am disappointed to read nothing about his skill, his prowess, his ability that makes him such a talented player. Furthermore, its not like I have vandalised the page, there is no immaturity to the content i have provided. That is my rant, do what you want, ban me if you want you emotionless robot for trying to add a bit of zest to these articles (that probably no one reads) - My life extends much much further than just contributing to wikipedia. Cheers.—Precedingunsigned comment added byLeungM (talkcontribs)00:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are many ways to engage readers while staying well within the scope of wikipedia; many of the thousands of feature articles demonstrate that. Sorry that you feel so strongly about not adhering to the encyclopedic nature of wikipedia; it's also unfortunate you choose to expend your energy by engaging in name-calling. As for theJuninho Pernambucano page, it exceeds 10,000 views per month (as per[1]). --SesameballTalk01:59, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned before, this is a rant and as per usual there will be forms of name-calling and intimidation present. Moving on, i would like to express thanks for introducing the statistical website to me, wikipedia just does not stop impressing me so thank you and goodbye.--LeungM (talk)17:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Breakdance article

[edit]

I see what you mean with the media. But I belive that Wikipedia should have the right information, not just what the media says. Breakdancing is a term coined by a journalist somewhere in 1980. The real name wasnever breakdancing, but b-boying (DJ Kool Herc used that when he started playing the music at his free parties. People are not shure if it stands for 'beat' boy or 'break' boy though). Can it be a redirect (after it has been merged) when the article introduction includes an explanaition of why it is not called breakdancing (see theControversy section of the breakdance article). Thanks in advance.(Please reply at my talk page)Pseudoserpent (talk)02:50, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, gohere and add{{Tick}} (checkY) next to your name if you're still part of the project.

Second, go tothe project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

You don't want to make me cry, do you? Potatoes have a lot of eyes you know. So come on, join in! :)

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did atShunsuke Nakamura, without citing areliable source. Please review the guidelines atWikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.GiantSnowman07:03, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: oh please, that's nonsense. Team honors are rarely cited - even on FA-rated articles many lack citations (see, e.g.,Gilberto Silva). At the very least you couldWP:AGF and just add acitation needed tag, especially given that the most cursory google search would reveal that the article subject did play for the teams in question during the competitions noted - not to mention I stated in the edit summary that I would add additional citations later, when I had time. --SesameballTalk22:34, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add here I have posted to the appropriate wikiproject talk page for guidance on what constitutes an acceptable citation for club honors, as I have no interest in engaging in petty edit wars. --SesameballTalk22:46, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
