Your edits-per-page tool is really usefulhere. The question came up whether the tool was uncounting. Are there any types of edits that would typically be made atWP:UAA orWP:UAAB that it wouldn't count for some reason? (Watching) - Dank (push to talk)01:33, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I removed your comment atTalk:The Event (TV series), comments of this nature lose their point. They move, possibly get archived, and aren't visible enough to prevent forum chatter on the talk page. Better use the template{{Notaforum}} at the top of the page. Please either unprotect your /Lockbox page, or use your own local copy of{{UserStatus}}, which is not editable by anyone but admins because of your transclusion of it on that page, and it needs editing for better compatibility with similar templates. —SMcCandlishTalk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀContribs.05:30, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, OverlordQ.I'm sysop on pt.wikipedia and eo.wikipedia and I was in the last Wikimania, in Poland. I'm looking for tools that integrates MediaWiki with other Web 2.0 resources, and this extension seems to be very useful. Unfortunately, nobody's developed the PostgreSQL schema for SocialProfile yet, asJack Phoenix said. As you are an expert on that, would you please tell me if it's a too difficult thing to do? I want to report that someone I suspect to be blocked user Thmc1 (logged on as IP Address 96.242.217.91 and sometimes 151.198.55.159) may be trying to continue his/her use of Wikipaedia as a propaganda tool. This person, whicn I have reason to believe is Thmc1, is attempting to pawn his revisionist pro-NY views, citing un-reliable business/travel sites as his source. When others undo his edits for this very fact, what does he do? He comes back with a similar business/travel site and says "Here's your proof!". If you examine the logs carefully, you will notice that activity from IPs 96.242.217.91 and 151.198.55.159 were virtually non-existent prior to Thmc1 being banned in June 2010. Since then, both IPs have come alive with activity displaying behavior identical to Thmc1's- using business/travel sites as souces over & over again and making edits to the very same pages! In his quest to seek re-instatement, Thmc1 claimed that he had learned his lesson and would never abuse Wikipedia again. Apparently, he has not learned that lesson. You were right in refusing his requests, and I hope that this will carry over to what is happening now. I STRONGLY urge that you initiate an investigation, which will hopefully lead to blocking him out again.MBaxter1 (talk)—Precedingundated comment added18:53, 1 December 2010 (UTC).

I've undone a number of that IP's other edits, both today and in the past, and can't find a single positive or even doubtful contribution. I took the matter toWP:AIV in September and the IP was blocked for 72 hours then for a month. Do you think it's worth considering a further block? Greetings OverlordQ-
My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a graduate student at the University of Oregon, currently collecting data for my dissertation on Wikipedia editors who create and use bots and assisted editing tools, as well as editors involved in the initial and/or ongoing creation of bot policies on Wikipedia. As a member of BAG and the bot community, I would very much like to interview you for the project at a time and in a method that is most convenient for you (Gchat, another IM client, Skype, email, telephone, etc.). I am completely flexible and can work with your schedule. The interview will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
My dissertation project has been approved both by theInstitutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Oregon, and by theResearch Committee at the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find more information on the project on mymeta page.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to chat. Thank you very much.

Dear OverlordQ,
My name is Jonathan Obaruser:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk)— Precedingunsigned comment added by24.11.206.39 (talk)03:47, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developingVersion 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.
For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussionhere and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :).Okeyes (WMF) (talk)18:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello OverlordQ! I'm active at the german wikipedia. I have the same problem with your whois tool, too. I asked some other authors from the german wikipedia. All of them, which I have asked, have the same problem with your tool, too. It seems to be statistical, if it works correctly one time and one time not. In approximately 1 of 4 trials it works and in 3 of 4 not. For example you could try this one:http://toolserver.org/~overlordq/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?lookup=87.148.101.236 When I refresh this page a few times (10 or 20 times), sometimes the tool works correctly and sometimes not. I hope, you can reproduce this bug and fix it. -- Thanks and greetings from Germany --Kleiner Stampfi (talk)19:26, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I see you redirected and merged some content relating to Tower Data. I have no reason to suggest this edit was not in good faith. However, the current changes dont make much sense to me leaving me confused. The page name is now TowerData, but I think now the Rapleaf product is only a small feature of the total TowerData company and product line. It says online that Tower Data has thousands of employees and billions in revenue and Rapleaf had hundreds of employees and maybe millions in revenue...I dont see the old wiki record, but I am not an expert. I asked an administrator to look at this too, maybe they can help. I would just revert the changes, but that doesnt seem like it will help as the older entries just look like Rapleaf, so I am confused on how to help. Thus I asked the administrators to take a look.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to imposesite bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Hello, OverlordQ. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned"extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created followingthis community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016,a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
Please reviewthe protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

Hello,
Please note thatTOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on yourpreferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see thedeveloping help page for additional information.Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to thethread on the administrators' noticeboard.MediaWiki message delivery (talk)20:33, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
