Your contributed article,Orwellian (3rd nomination)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to readthe guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using theArticle Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page,Orwellian (3rd nomination). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page –Orwellian. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged forspeedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out atOrwellian. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it atthe article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you maycontest the nomination byvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line withWikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact thedeleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a requesthere. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest thearticle creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Bait30  Talk 2 me pls?01:24, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you move it to the mainspace in the first place if it's almost an exact replica ofOrwellian? Also, why did you moveUser:Catden123/sandbox andUser:Catden123/sanbox7 into your userspace? Bait30  Talk 2 me pls?02:01, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  1. it was a stupid joke, orwellian has been nominated 2 times and that's all i can explain
  2. i only had time to move those ones to my userspace, but i would've moved all of them if i could. as for why, the somewhat harmless boxes amused me. id put in a refurnd request for the other sandboxes if i wasnt too lazy to do so

hi @Oreocooke, could you please take more care with the redirects you make? Random combinations of errors or unlikely alternative names are usually not helpful. I have seen many recent redirects from you in the queue which were borderline, and I haven't RfDed most of them because that's more trouble than it's worth, but please try to consider not only whether something could possible refer to an article subject but whether anyone ever is actually likely to use it and expect that to work. "Not actively bad enough to RfD" and "actually useful" is a pretty wide gap.Rusalkii (talk)21:31, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

CfD relists

[edit]

Please stop relisting discussions on the basis of "recent activity". That is not, in itself, a reason to relist.jlwoodwa (talk)03:56, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

i'm not relisting them based off recent activity. i'm relisting them and noting that there is recent activity. there's a difference.Oreocooke (talk)03:59, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, it appears that you are relisting every discussion that has been open for more than seven days. Please don't. If we wanted it to be done systematically, we would have a bot do it. But we don't want that, because discussions likeWikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 24 § Category:Storer College buildings should be closed rather than relisted.jlwoodwa (talk)04:07, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. If you return to relisting, I recommend going more slowly and relisting fewer discussions per day – I know the prospect of putting a big dent in the backlog is appealing, but there's no rush. Everyone makes mistakes at first, and taking it slower means making a mistake on just a few discussions rather than on dozens in a row.jlwoodwa (talk)04:20, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Non-admin closures

[edit]

Hi @Oreocooke, perWP:NAC you shouldn't be closing any discussion in which an outcome is on the table that you can't implement. Specifically, you shouldnever close a discussion as delete (except at CfD, they have different rules), or close any discussion in which it is notunambiguous that deletion is not going to be the outcome. If you are going to continue to close discussion you should carefully readWikipedia:Non-admin closure.

Separately, some advice: while there is no policy against you doing so, I strongly recommend you wait a while before diving into closing discussions. You have a track record of making potentially bad redirects and templates and you are still a relatively new editor. There's plenty of other things to do and plenty of other people to close discussions. Gain some more experience, wait until you understand the policy more thoroughly, and then come back to it later.Rusalkii (talk)03:58, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

my mistake (ignore that i just closed an mfd discussion before reading this)Oreocooke (talk)04:00, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You've gone right back to relisting AfDs after this reply. Have you actually readWikipedia:Non-admin closure in this time? Doing closuresor relists is an admin-like action and youwill be held to admin standards with regards to your conduct in it: one of the important expectations of admin or non-admin closer is that they are well-acquainted with all the relevant policies or guidelines before they start acting in that area.Rusalkii (talk)04:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Rusalkii trust me, i made sure to read the relevant page(s) before i relisted anythingOreocooke (talk)04:32, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly you have not. Relisting an AfD with the rationaleunclear consensus.6 days is close enough to 7 (emphasis added) (as you've donehere) does not show evidence that you have a clear understanding of deletion policy.Significa liberdade(she/her) (talk)17:29, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Trumpota

[edit]

Hello Oreocooke,

I'mSignifica liberdade, and Ipatrol new pages here on Wikipedia.

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged a page that you created (Trumpota) for deletion because it is an unnecessarydisambiguation page per one of the criteria atWP:G14.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact thedeleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with{{Re|Significa liberdade}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with~~~~ . Thanks!

Proposed deletion ofTrumpota

[edit]
Notice

The articleTrumpota has beenproposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Neither is an appropriate link for this DAB page. Slovakian doesn't appear particularly relevant to trumpets, so Trumpota is an inappropriate redirect. We also shouldn't have cross-namespace redirects, so WP:TRUMPOTA isn't a good target either.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may bedeleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the{{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in youredit summary or onthe article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing{{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop theproposed deletion process, but otherdeletion processes exist. In particular, thespeedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, andarticles for deletion allows discussion to reachconsensus for deletion.Significa liberdade(she/her) (talk)15:51, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to reiterate whatOwenX said. Oreo your edits borderline onWP:DISRUPTIVE. You have been warned by multiple users. Frankly your edits should all be reverted but the nature of relisting a TFD is that it affects numerous pages so reverting is not easy. You are still a very new user. I would recommend you focus your efforts elsewhere. Non-admin closures of AFDs/TFDs need someone with a more experienced hand. If this behavior continues on your part I will be pushing for aWP:TBAN. Just so you understand that wouldofficially ban you from participating in article and template deletion discussion resulting in a block on your account if you continue.
We welcome beingBOLD here but you have overstepped. As I said, focus your efforts elsewhere.Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing)17:14, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

okOreocooke (talk)17:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
i'm gonna recommend giving it a week or so, and seeing how, why, and when things get relisted or closed. and not closing or relisting if you'reinvolved unless it's for uncontroversial technical stuff (like an xfd being over a month old or a speedy closure that just hasn't been tagged in the venue)consarn(talck)(contirbuton s)17:25, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oreocooke, you left a massive cleanup job for us to carry out after you. I strongly suggest you immediately stop relisting and closing XfD discussion for at least one day while we assess the damage caused. Thank you.Owen×17:24, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also like to echoZackmann08's warning above. While I'm sure you mean well, your actions border on disruptive editing, and if you persist, you may end up losing your project-space editing privileges, which will prevent you from participating in, relisting or closing any XfD discussions.Owen×17:28, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ok. I don't know why I've even been doing thisOreocooke (talk)17:34, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oreocooke, I'm sure you meant well. But closing or relisting such discussions requires a lot of experience and practice. And even for the most experienced of us, these things typically take several minutes per XfD, so if you have to slow down to "only 1 per minute", you're likely doing something wrong. I suggest you leave XfDs for more experienced editors, and focus on adding to those discussions as a participant, not a relister/closer.Owen×17:41, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're absolutely right.Oreocooke (talk)17:43, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

final resolution

[edit]

i have disabled XFDcloser, and as such will not be relisting or closing ANY discussions until I re-enable it, which will not happen this monthOreocooke (talk)17:40, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I appreciate your cooperation.Owen×17:42, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Hello Oreo. Here's what you need to do now: go to ANI, apologize, and promise to stop closing or relisting any XfD discussions for at while. I suggest at least a month. If you do not do this, you may end up with a block, and I don't want that.

In future, you need to take warnings seriously. When someone says "you should not do this" or "please slow down", you need to STOP immediately. Then, try to understand why they said that. Only once they have confirmed you understood correctly should you even consider trying the same task again.Toadspike[Talk]18:06, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to see your response in the section above. It took me a while to write this. Thank you. I hope you still take the second part of my message to heart.Toadspike[Talk]18:07, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

Hi, since you seem interested in maintenance tasks and have been active in RfDs/redirects, here are some activity suggestions you might want to try:

  • If there seems to be a consensus emerging for adisambiguation (dab) page during RfD, it is often helpful to have someone draft a dab page under the redirect. After completing the task, be sure to announce it in the discussion so others are aware. This saves closers and other editors a lot of work.
  • At RfD, we typically don't have anyone doingdeletion sorting, but could benefit from it.Thesetwo edits are an example of a user doing this. It can be a valuable way to notifyWikiProjects and other interested parties to hopefully get more participation and make establishing consensus easier.
  • Addingredirect categories (rcats) can make redirect maintenance and sorting easier. It is particularly helpful for redirects that have undergone recent changes such as those that have just been retargeted by an RfD closer, or those in thenew pages feed (be sure to select the "redirects" filter if you want redirects). There is a category index available at{{R template index}}.

If you need further help or advice, please feel free to reach out to theTeahouse where there are plenty of friendly experienced editors willing to assist.Left guide (talk)01:39, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
