Request for Assistance in Verifying and Correcting Community Information

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Team,

We are writing to express our frustration and concern regarding the repeated inaccuracies on our community's Wikipedia pages, specificallyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishnupriya_Manipuri andhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishnupriya_people. Despite our efforts to correct and update the information, the pages continue to contain outdated, false, or misleading content.

Our Central Committee of India has recently decided to replace the existing content with verified, authentic information or to request the deletion of these pages if accurate updates cannot be made promptly. This decision stems from persistent challenges posed by individuals with anti-social motives who attempt to create controversy and spread falsehoods about our community.

We kindly request that you do not publish or promote any false or unverifiable content about the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. To assist you, we have attached a Notepad document containing the authentic and verified information about our community for your review.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter to prevent unnecessary panic and misinformation. Please verify the attached document and update the pages accordingly.

For further information or clarifications, please visit our official website:https://bishnupriyamanipurisahityasabha.com/.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Sincerely,Bhartiya Gramin UdyogUnit of Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha

Guide to temporary accounts

[edit]

Hello, LakesideMiners. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have atemporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with thetemporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with thetemporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects theautoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. OnSpecial:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should useSpecial:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access isgenerally not allowed (e.g.~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward3RR, but notHey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • SeeWikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via theUser Info card, available inPreferences →Appearance →Advanced options →TickEnable theuser info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly,Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

User talk page 2

[edit]

Hey LakesideMiners, now why did you delete my topic, didn't you say you treat everyone with respect no matter what? This is incredibly disrespectful, do respond and stop removing topics.MohamedHaikal934 (talk)15:26, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Because you took a personal cheap shot at someone which did not belong on Wikipedia.Jp33442 (talk)15:29, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You reverting my edit

[edit]

Hi! I replied to you on my user page but maybe you haven't seen it, so I thought it'd be quicker to message to you on your user page. I see you're a pretty active editor so I understood you may not see my reply on my user page... You reverted my edit on Cheyenne Brando's wiki page for anti-vandalism and commentary, but I don't really understand why. I know there was some commentary in my explanation for the edit which could have been the problem, but why revert the whole edit then? My edit was reverted by someone who didn't discuss the change so should I not be able to revert their edit back to my edit? My initial edit that had been there for months without complaint, which I believe to be an important edit for the sake of context. This is really important to me and I'd like an explanation. Thank you a lot :)Beverlypigeon (talk)15:32, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It was due to it being commentary, it is not Wikipedia's place to speculate on how reliable someones statement is.LakesideMinersCome Talk To Me!16:58, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I see. But I'd say it's important that the court itself was not able to consider her statements in the trial because of her mental state. I understand how it can look like pure speculation, that wasn't really my intention. Couldn't I reword it to put more emphasis on the court?Beverlypigeon (talk)17:13, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of edit request

[edit]

Hello LakesideMiners. Could you please explain why you removed that edit request atTalk:List of ethnic slurs without answering it yesterday, and why you then left{{uw-vandal1}} at their talk page? Regardless of whether "clanker" should be on the list, the request seemed to had been made ingood faith. Given that was the editor's first edit, your actions look kind ofbitey, at least from my perspective.Chess enjoyer (talk)04:08, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Because it is incredibly common online discourse to the point of being a memeLakesideMinersCome Talk To Me!10:45, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Even so, the editor seemed to have been genuine when they made the request. I can see why someone might thinkclanker belongs on the list (although I'm not sure if we can consider robots an ethnicity yet), and I don't see any reason to think that they made the request in bad faith. How exactly does that edit request constitutevandalism?Chess enjoyer (talk)17:13, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I struggle to see how it could be good faith to claim robots are an ethnicitn and was just meming.
But I can concede that it could have been in good faith.LakesideMinersCome Talk To Me!18:20, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
