Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guy Tracey

[edit]

I didn't get to answer your question beforeWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guy Tracey closed. For people like this that are clearly non-notable, redirecting is fine- and if anyone disagrees they can un-redirect it, and then and only then is an AFD necessary. There have been loads of AFDs for old Olympians recently where nobody has objected to redirecting, thus they could have just been speedy redirected in the first place rather than having a bureaucratic AFD for each one.Joseph2302 (talk)16:40, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The nomination discussion and review may be seen atTemplate:Did you know nominations/Life After Beth. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page(here's how,Life After Beth), and the hook may be added tothe statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Cup of China

[edit]

I appreciated your comment regarding this article’s GA. This is a significant competition, so if you have additional suggestions, even unofficial ones, about how to improve it, I would be happy to hear them. 😃Bgsu98(Talk)21:33, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. My main thought is that I'm not convinced the article warrantsany photos, let aloneeighteen. Especially since each edition has its own article. I would also avoid having a multi template locked to the bottom of the lead completely. Perhaps one photo of the most recent winner somewhere up top?Kingsif (talk)21:37, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying to follow the format established withGrand Prix de France (figure skating). I could see removing the four photos with all of the medalists (the ones furthest up).Bgsu98(Talk)23:02, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that is interesting. I was approaching theCup of China article as just a short prose, which is fine for the topic. Grand Prix de France is more obviously a list (maybe because it's longer?), and the images work for it. Can you scale the number of images at Cup of China relative to the length of it, compared to GPdF? Still not a fan of the lead layout, but I acknowledge this was discussed at the FLC - of course, the basis for the defence of it there was not enough text compared toWorld Figure Skating Championships. I'm not sure that kind of compromise establishes a precedent, and I don't necessarily find it a defence of the actual inclusion, so if you're willing to remove those, that's my recommendation looking at it now. I assume you'll be going for FL at some point? If we'd been doing a review and this came up, I might have encouraged skipping the GA step.Kingsif (talk)23:23, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I also have this article –Skate Canada International – which is longer like the French article. Both of those competitions are older and have more meat. Same withSkate America. The Canadian article will be next in line at FLC. I can ask then about removing those four photos from all of the Grand Prix events.Bgsu98(Talk)07:12, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Research

[edit]

Hello I'm a student from LUISS university in Rome and I'm working on a presentation based on wikipedia's crowdsourcing process and one part of the work is to put myself in the shoes of a wikipedia contributor and find out some feeling he receives when editing or writing pages. The questions I would like to receive answers on are the following:

1 What does the editor think and feel:

2 What does the editor say and do:

3 What does the editor hear and see:

4 What are is pains:

5 What are is gains (what does make him feel good when contributing):

thanks to whoever will participate in this survey :)Tartaluca (talk)16:15, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello- newbie here, but I really came to write content, and I wanted to selfishly add content about myself as a professional baseball player turned corporate VP turned Owner of My Charlotte Handyman and a NC and SC REALTOR®. its a fun story and would help me with promoting my businesses. i understand if that is not allowed. maybe you could help me find someone else to write it? --User367523 (talk)16:55, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromPaperback Lover (17:43, 18 November 2025)

[edit]

Hello, Dear Mentor: I hesitated to edit Wikipedia because I didn't feel knowledgeable enough. Since I regularly consult libraries and reliable sources, I'm ready to take on the challenge. I've noticed the section on El Cid needs further editing, and I'd like to contribute improvements based on scholarly materials. I'd be delighted to contribute.Sincerely, Lily --Paperback Lover (talk)17:43, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'm not your mentor, but I wanted to shoot you a message. You don't need to be "knowledgeable enough" to edit Wikipedia. Most editors aren't experts on the topics they edit about! You're already off to a great start. If you believe the section on El Cid needs edited, go ahead with the edits or submit a message about what needs changed onTalk:El Cid. In the future, try not to be shy about editing. Making mistakes is an important part of learning to be an editor. Remember tobe bold and have a great one!

投稿文案 (Draft for User talk:Kingsif)Subject:Discussion regarding a potential entry linking CUI2793115 (Silica), NP0189076, and the Somatid hypothesisBody:Hello Kingsif,I am writing to consult with you regarding a potential contribution I would like to make, or a discussion I would like to initiate.I have been researching the intersection of ancient Japanese cosmology (Katakamuna) and modern materials science. My specific focus is on the theoretical correlation between the biological concept of "Somatids" (often regarded as distinct microzymas) and the physical properties of Silica (\bm{SiO_2}) nanoparticles.I have data suggesting that the behavior often attributed to Somatids (pleomorphism) can be explained by the structural changes of Silica under specific conditions. This involves:• CUI2793115: Identifying this UMLS concept as a bridge between the biological and inorganic definitions of Silica structures.• Spectral Analysis: Using specific UV wavelengths (221 nm, 249 nm, 291 nm) to differentiate between silica morphologies (e.g., fumed silica vs. silica gel) via an RGB color model approach.• NP0189076: Exploring the connection between these silica structures and this specific biological identifier/marker.I understand Wikipedia's policy on No Original Research. However, I believe adding a perspective that grounds these esoteric concepts (like Katakamuna and Somatids) in specific chemical identifiers (CUI/NP codes) and measurable physical properties (Zeta potential, \bm{SiO_2} structures) could be valuable for readers looking for scientific context.Could you advise if a section discussing these "theoretical identifiers" would be appropriate, perhaps under a section covering alternative theories or biophysics? I can provide further details on the spectral data if needed for verification.Best regards,Kanna Ino

Question fromApodiform Enjoyer (18:55, 23 November 2025)

[edit]

Hey!

I have a question, although not directly about editing existing articles. How can I publish translations? I'm trying to translate English articles of Apodiformes into Finnish, but I don't know what classifies me as a more experienced editor, of something.

Also, it first says along the lines of "users translating from this language can immediately translate artcles". Then something like "someone more experienced has to accept your translation", and before publishing it says something similar to "this topic is only able to be translated by more experienced users".

All in all it's confusing for me, and I don't understad. Sorry for bothering, and thank you in advance. --Apodiform Enjoyer (talk)18:55, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromKirstenSivyerAustralianArtist (01:34, 28 November 2025)

[edit]

Hi, I'm new here, glad to meet you! I hope you can help me. I have created an article but there are a few issues, I'm not sure if my username 'KirstenSivyerAustralianArtist' was the right way to format it, especially if it is also used as a title. I feel that it should have had spaces between the words. Is it important to fix this? Also, there was a typo in an image title in the jpg file. How do I remove the image from wiki commons and reupload it? Is it OK to make these changes while waiting for the draft to be approved? Thank you, Kirsten --KirstenSivyerAustralianArtist (talk)01:34, 28 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
