There are some unpleasant people and the nature of your mistake—along with the QPQ thing, which made you look like you'd done at least five nominations already—made me think you were one of them. Speedy deletion nomination ofCategory:Wikipedians who like Shaman King

[edit]

A tag has been placed onCategory:Wikipedians who like Shaman King requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not adisambiguation category, acategory redirect, afeatured topics category, under discussion atCategories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you maycontest the nomination byvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line withWikipedia's policies and guidelines. —swpbT16:47, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 theMilitary history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members ofWikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

[edit]

I see you recently accepteda pending change toAugust 14 that did not included a direct source. You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt fromWP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details seethe WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. You should have rejected this edit. I was able to find a source for this date of birth that I could add to the DOY page.

Please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. Theburden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you.Toddst1(talk)14:03, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the correction. I have taken this into account for other pending change reviews on Days of the Year pages. If I may ask, is there a section where I may read specific policies such as this, as I was recently told by another administrator to only revert unambiguously poor edits?Jionunez (talk)08:31, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If I may butt in here, there are other possibilities between letting an edit stand untouched and outright reverting it. You can add a {{cn}} tag, for example. This gives someone a little time to find a a source. --John (talk)10:42, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you toassume good faith while interacting with other editors. Take a look at thewelcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --John (talk)07:15, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I do rarely interact with other editors and have only received pending changes reviewer rights a few hours ago. Would you be able to tell me where I made my mistakes, so as not to repeat them?Jionunez (talk)07:21, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What was the merit ofthis edit? --John (talk)08:00, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I felt that the wording of the edit had unnecessarily negative connotations and did not meet a neutral point of view. As for the caption of the edit, I realise it may have been more productive to contact an administrator about the edit warring, but in the moment I felt that the introduction of a third party would be sufficient to deescalate the situation. Was I mistaken in either of these assumptions?Jionunez (talk)08:21, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think you were mistaken in both. The edit was a good one, and I have reinstated it. If you're going to revert, please make sure what you are reverting is an unambiguously poor edit. --John (talk)09:20, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, but I have no knowledge of, or experience in, the subject.Jionunez (talk)08:26, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
