The Nuke feature also nowprovides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
You've been an administrator since likeforever (fooled me, I didn't even realize you were one) and you're this clueless? If your objective is to raise my blood pressure to the limit, you've succeeded brilliantly.wbm1058 (talk)19:40, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your close atWikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2025 January 14#Common lime didn't, in practice find "no consensus". It found a consensus that not only isTilia × europaea the primary topic, it's theonly topic. What a farce. Maybe it's primary topic in the UK, but I think the tree's practically unknown in the United States – I'm not aware of them lining any roads here. To have a primary topic, you need to have a consensus that there is a primary topic. PerWP:Primary topic, "highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic" means highly likely editors will agree that it's much more likely than any other single topic. When editors can't come to an agreement, the default is to disambiguate.
Well, I've just cooled off enough to read your last sentence, "No prejudice against converting this to a disambiguation page", so that's what I'm gonna do, i.e. override your close. –wbm1058 (talk)13:25, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I made the "no consensus, retarget" perWP:NCRET:.. it may be appropriate to retarget a redirect in these circumstances, even absent explicit consensus for the retarget. There were nomultiple retargeting options to go for the "no consensus, disambiguate". By the way, you are discussing this close objection under the title "WTF", and I'm assuming doing that was an oversight. Jay 💬14:43, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'd never noticed the subpageWikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Common outcomes before, so thanks for the pointer, so now I know where you were coming from. I don't like to see essays that have not been thoroughly vetted by the community plastered with so many shortcuts that are used to imply they have been vetted as justifiable rationales for closing discussions. None of the threeWP:NCRET examples fitthis particular case. Just disregard my arbitrary section header if you like, it's not important. –wbm1058 (talk)15:22, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, I'm hoping you might be able to help us over atWikiProject Eurovision. We recently had adiscussion on renaming the project and consensus was reached to rename to "WikiProject Song Contests". Given thelarge number of sub-pages which have been created over time, I felt getting help from an admin would be beneficial, just so I don't royally screw it up! Looking through the pages I don't believe everything needs to be renamed, as a lot of stuff has been archived, so if you're willing to help, please let me know if you'd like a full list of pages to be renamed! Many thanks.Sims2aholic8 (talk)10:39, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If the archived pages needn't be renamed, then won't they continue to show in a user search and create confusion? For example,WP:WikiProject Eurovision/Archive/todo. If a user types in "WP:WikiProject Eurovision" in the search bar, it will list this and all archived pages. Or is it sufficient that the baseWP:WikiProject Eurovision page is deleted (and not made a redirect) as part of the pagemove, while any other non-archived pages continue to exist as redirects to the new page name? Upto 100 subpages can be moved as part of a page move. Jay 💬16:35, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for updating the reference citation for Gaurav Dwivedi in FTII page.
My draft for his wiki page has been rejected by previous reviewers.
I have not resubmitted it after last review. Can you please review it and give your opinion about the page and his notability. I will be adding more references.
Please help with your experienced opinion so that I can make his page better.
I did try to clean up the draft, but what the latest review said is still valid - the references.. do not showsignificant coverage (not just passing mentions)... If you are able to find references with significant coverage (not interviews), then you may add them. Jay 💬01:37, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much Jay for your time in reviewing my draft and editing. I will try to find more sources and also I will update one award nomination he had for best actor for short film Still Voices at an american film
I am grateful and thankful to you for editing Gaurav Dwivedi's draft and including valuable information. I added more content today, added commercials with youtube links citations, which are commercial videos. Also added Award nominations section and references. Added page title.
Can you please review it once more. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Thank you for your time to refine my draft. I understand that references are needed to prove any information listed there. For his best actor nomination , I found it mentioned in this link :https://thereviewmonk.com/person/gaurav-dwivedi/
why is this link not being considered as a reliable source.
In the reviewmonk page, towards the end it shows.. Gaurav Dwivedi was nominated for the best actor award.Wikipedia ^ Show Less That page uses Wikipedia itself as a source, so is not usable. I removed the commercials because the youtube links you added were primary sources, and the youtube account is unverified. It is the same with his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts - they are all unverified. Typically, notable actors get their accounts verified for their fan base and to avoid impersonation.
Hello Jay, Thank you for explaining it to me. I wanted to add commercials youtube links because he is seen in the commercial video and that is the proof that he actually acted in the commercial. Please suggest how can we have those added in his wikipedia page, if not youtube links.
Also , I wanted to know that how to proceed to find reliable sources about someone’s nominations.
Thank you Jay. For commercials I will search for more sources. And for nomination too. I think thats the only nomination I saw on google for him.PrachiVyas27 (talk)13:47, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And regarding that link you said is using wikipedia as a source, I dont think thats the case because that wikipedia link at the end of the article is redirecting to draft page but I didnot include any award information untill yesterday in the draft page.I first found this link on google and then used it as reference to update award nomination. So it is other way round. Please give your thoughts. I am not sure when this article was published. Your thoughts on this please 🙏
The wikipedia link at the end of the article ishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaurav_Dwivedi , the article page, not the draft page. It used to be a Wikipedia article and has been deleted 3 times - in 2015 and 2017. In 2016, the article did mention the Best Actor nomination, seethe web archive. In any case, the fact that a website relies on Wikipedia as a source, implies it is not reliable, and cannot be used. Jay 💬13:58, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your question atSpecial:Diff/1288296481 is answered bymw:Help:DiscussionTools#Talk pages permalinking:The link to a comment is available from its timestamp, in the signature. Clicking (or tapping on mobile) on the link copies the permalink to your clipboard. It actually took me longer than I'd like to find this info; I'd discovered it simply because I was curious about the new formatting of the comment timestamps and clicked them. en-wiki documentation, such asWikipedia:Signatures, hasjust a sentence without citing the more in-depth MediaWiki documentation (which also helpfully provides a brief summary of its implementation across Wikimedia wikis). I plan to do something about this [how difficult the MediaWiki page is to find] hopefully later today.Rotideypoc41352public (talk)00:01, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in{{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions atWP:STICKYDECO.
An RfC has resulted ina broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.

Followinga request for comment, there isa new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses oftemporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors canrequest access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

Hello, Jay. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have atemporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with thetemporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
Editing from a temporary account
When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with thetemporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
How to enable IP Reveal
Administrators may grant thetemporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet thecriteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. atWP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators arenot permitted to assign the right without a request.
It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects theautoblock option.
It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. OnSpecial:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should useSpecial:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access isgenerally not allowed (e.g.~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward3RR, but notHey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
Hello! Voting in the2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. Alleligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
TheArbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting theWikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to imposesite bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Thearbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Drafts that go unedited for six months are eligible for deletion, in accordance with ourdraftspace policy, and this one has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simplyedit the submission, and remove the{{db-afc}},{{db-draft}}, or{{db-g13}} code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you read this, you canrequest its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the draft so you can continue to work on it.
Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have atemporary account associated with their edits.
Administrators will now find thatSpecial:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start).T382958

Jay, I see that an IP just createdDraft:Adam the woo for a newly deceased YouTuber. I believe the spelling is incorrect, so I am presently working onAdam the Woo, as this is the spelling as it is being reported in reliable sources. Can you tell me what is the proper procedure in this case — i.e., is it more correct to promote the draft or allow me to publish my article — assuming of course that he is notable, which I believe he is.StonyBrookbabble06:47, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There can be multiple draft pages on the same topic either in draftspace or userspace. You could have created your own draft with the proper spelling, or enhanced the current or created directly in mainspace. In any case, now that it is in mainspace, the question is moot. Jay 💬09:20, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's six of one or a half dozen of the other, I guess. If the only difference is that I lose creator credit to the IP, then it's no bigee. I'm no better than the next human contributor (but thesupercomputer pilfering all of our stuff? Well, that's a different matter!).StonyBrookbabble11:17, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for informing. Restored. XFDCloser was facing problems because of the quotes, and I changed the section title at the RfD for the close to go through. I don't know why XFDCloser deleted the non-quoted title. Jay 💬18:27, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Changes to theAccess to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy's disclosure rules include broadening the consecutive-blocks exception to cover all admin actions and removing the requirement to revision-delete permissible disclosures once they become unnecessary (instead requiring only their removal). SeeWP:TAIVDISCLOSE for more information.
Hi, please do not remove the bolding of anything on list of drugs articles, as the medications and INNs are bolded in all of the articles, meaning it is standard
I'm not sure, it doesn't state it in the article. But every article that is a "List of drugs" they're all bolded, so I think it's standard across the subject. Maybe they can make it so the brand names only are bolded and not the INN names, or split the brand names and generic names into different listings. I think it looks better too.PLBF61371 (talk)16:16, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Due to the result of a recentmotion, a rough consensus of administrators at thearbitration enforcement noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor'sArab-Israeli conflict topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.
