Hi, hope you're well. I'm debating an attempt to spruce upUSSBourbon, as a relatively simple article to start with. While I realise this isn't exactly your field, I wondered whether you know of any definitive sources for the US/Continental Navy of this period? Thank you today for8th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Confederate), introduced (in 2023): "I worked on this one all the way back in 2020, but was just recently able to find sources to resolve a snag that came up in the ACR." - I haveEaster Oratorio on the main page, sorry for a delay, - of course I told the story, which is admittedly complex,on Easter Sunday for the music's 300th anniversary. --Gerda Arendt (talk)09:13, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I did some checking, and the person that was making a lot of questionable changes to Civil War articles involving West Virginia has not made any edits since January 2024 (unless he/she got a new name). I called him a "Sniper" because he did not seem to write many articles, only lots of changes to other people's articles. The biggest problems were in 2019.TwoScars (talk)18:32, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you have time in the next few days, can you look at the edits to this article to see if you think it now meets B class. I am leaning toward B class but wonder whether some of the citations, in particular, are sufficient. It seems to me that the user is still citing a summary in a few of them and is likely guessing about the chapters of the book in which the info is set out as he doesn't have page numbers. Perhaps that is sufficient for this one considering the info appears to be correct? I may even wait to the weekend unless someone else jumps in.
This has been a reminder to me to be more attentive, especially to the citations, when assessing requests for B class. Usually, requests come from experienced users who only miss something by inadvertence and cite good sources in a proper way but that should not be assumed for every request. This is unlike the bot assessments since some overrating and not in scope articles can be found every month. An additional problem here, which the user shrugs off just mistakes, is more serious. That is citing sources that do not exist and page numbers that aren't in the books with a similar or identical title, but are by other authors. That's mainly why I remain somewhat suspicious about this editor and his work.
I have reviewed other articles written or edited by this user and have left some tags. Most were worked on this month and still have stub or start assessments so I changed only one or two assessments. I saw some deficiencies if these articles as well.Donner60 (talk)01:26, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a second attempt to nominateSounder commuter rail for FA status and would like to know if you are able to conduct a source review in the FAC, as you did for the first nomination. Hi. I know this is outside your normal area, but I'm trying to getAomori Prefecture to GA then FA status. On the article talk page and several other pages I asked for help from people but no one came onboard. You can see what I did here:Talk:Aomori_Prefecture#Get_to_GA/FA?. I have made about 200 edits to improve it. The only parts I wrote from scratch are the government section and the 90% of the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of the intro. If you don't mind, could you look it over for GA potential and copyedit the prose? If this is too much to ask, it's ok, there won't be any hard feelings as I know it's a big request. Thank you today forBattle of Arkansas Post (1863), introduced: "In December 1862, Ulysses S. Grant and Henry Halleck managed to divert a command intended for political general John A. McClernand to William T. Sherman. After Sherman led this force to defeat in the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, McClernand took over and reorganized the command. Sherman and McClernand had independently decided to reduce a Confederate position on the Arkansas River known as Fort Hindman, which was commanded by the luckless Thomas Churchill. After some maneuverings and shellings from the David Dixon Porter's Union Navy squadron, McClernand's infantry assault was repulsed along the lines, but unauthorized flags of surrender were raised over the Confederate lines. The ensuing chaos resulted in Union troops swamping the Confederate lines, and the fort was captured and later destroyed. Grant took personal command not long afterwards, and after some false starts embarked upon his famous campaign that captured Vicksburg."! - I havea FAC open, in case of interest. --Gerda Arendt (talk)04:47, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulation! And thenk you today forJohn Bullock Clark, introduced: "Another biography of a Missouri State Guard officer. While the last one, William Y. Slack, was largely a local figure except for his military service, Clark was a prominent Missourian for much of his life. He was an officer in the state militia during the Missouri Mormon War, where he was the recipient of the infamous "Extermination Order". In 1840, he ran for state governor, where he was accused of being complicit in a plot to commit election fraud and almost fought a duel with Claiborne Fox Jackson. Elected to the US House of Representatives in the late 1850s, Clark was expelled from Congress in 1861 for, as a sitting US congressman, leading a body of armed troops into battle against the United States Army in the Battle of Carthage, Missouri. After a few months as a general in the State Guard, Clark became a Confederate senator although he was not nominated for a second term due to behavioral issues (alcoholism, disorderly conduct, womanizing, and mendacity). After the war he fled to Mexico and was arrested upon his return."! - And you are invited to the PR ofUnser Mund sei voll Lachens, BWV 110, specifically to say just yes or no to four open concerns from the FAC, for my feedback, --Gerda Arendt (talk)09:42, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
