CAN'T RETIRE
Historyday01 tried to leave Wikipedia, but found that they couldn't do so…

After some thought, and considering full or semi-retirement, per what is stated atWP:RETIRE, possibly by December 31, 2025 as I noted in previous messages on here on 4/14/25 and 8/28/25, I have decided to drop that at this point. I may reconsider it in 2026, depending on what happens.--Historyday01 (talk)15:12, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!Feel free to post comments, suggestions, and whatnot, and I'll do my best to respond to them in a timely manner. Please do notever invite me to participate inAfD discussions or those onthe Reliable Sources Noticeboard (RSN), either by posting on this talk page or pinging me. If you do so, Ipolitely decline to participate in such discussions. Engaging in such discussions is emotionally and mentally draining. I do not wish to be pulled into those discussions. Thanks.--Historyday01 (talk)18:29, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder about talk page guidelines

WP:OTHERSCOMMENTS andWP:INTERLEAVE state:

Never edit or move someone's comment to change its meaning, even on your own talk page...Generally, you should not break up another editor's text by interleaving or interpolating your own replies to individual points. This causes confusion with who said what and obscures the original editor's intent.

WP:TALKOFFTOPIC, which lists examples of appropriately editing others' comments (italics is my emphasis):

Personal talk page cleanup...Removing prohibited material such as libel; legal threats; personal details; content that is illegal under US law; or violations of copyright, living persons, or anti-promotional policies...Removing harmful posts, including personal attacks, trolling, and vandalism. This generally does not extend to messages that are merely uncivil; deletions of simple invective are controversial. Posts that may be considered disruptive in various waysare another borderline case and are usually best left as-is or archived...Your idea of what is off topic may differ from what others think is off topic, sobe sure to err on the side of caution

WP:TALK#REPLIED states (italics is my emphasis):

So long as no one has yet responded to your comment, it's accepted and common practice that you may continue to edit your remarks for a short while to correct mistakes, add links or otherwise improve them. If you've accidentally posted to the wrong page or section or if you've simply changed your mind, it's been only a short while and no one has yet responded, you may remove your comment entirely. But if anyone has already replied to or quoted your original comment, changing your comment may deprive any replies of their original context, and this should be avoided. Once others have replied, or even if no one's replied but it's been more than a short while, if you wish to change or delete your comment,it is commonly best practice to indicate your changes...To add an explanation of your change, you may add a new comment directly below your original or elsewhere in discussion as may be most appropriate; insert a comment in square brackets.

WP:OWNTALK states:

User talk pages must serve their primary purpose, which is to make communication and collaboration among editors easier. Editors who refuse to use their talk page for these purposes are violating the spirit of the talk page guidelines, and are not acting collaboratively. The length of user talk pages, and the need for archiving, is left up to each editor's own discretion. Although archiving is preferred, users may freely remove comments from their own talk pages. Users may also remove some content in archiving.

WP:BLANKING states:

Policy does not prohibit users, whether registered or unregistered, from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred. If a user removes material from their talk page, it is normally taken to mean that the user has read and is aware of its contents; this is true whether the removal was manual or automatic. There is no need to keep them on display, and usually users should not be forced to do so.

Youtube, Instagram, X and similar self created sources with lack of managerial and editorial overview need to be removed. This is (now?)WP:BOMBARD. It requires substantial pruning of the excess, and a précis of the prose

Your recent article submission toArticles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by SafariScribe was:
This submission's references do not show that the subjectqualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not showsignificant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject inpublished, reliable, secondary sources that areindependent of the subject (see theguidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (seetechnical help and learn aboutmistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). LGBTQ representation onMagical Girl Friendship Squad: Origins

[edit]

Most of my changes to the article were typical grammar changes, but I shortened this section to remove the following:Six episodes of theadult animation, inspired bySailor Moon and othermagical girl anime, began airing onSyfy,[1][2] features two women, Alex and Daisy.

This information is not important to the LGBTQ representation and can already be found earlier in the article. I just cut it straight to the facts that Daisy sleeps with a woman in the second episode. I cut both of the citations since neither of the sources metion anything about her lesbianism.MezmerizingWiseguy (talk) 22:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)MezmerizingWiseguy (talk)22:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I thought your recent edit was generally fine, but the other one was done without explainingwhy content was removed. I don't know how I was supposed to assess an edit when there's no explanation as to why it's done. Your edit actually did make sense, and I implemented ithere, but those sources didn't need to be cut, they just needed to be moved to the right section.--Historyday01 (talk)01:57, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Terminology

[edit]

I had a talk withuser:BradyBunchFan on the live help chat (on IRC). They were unaware ofWP:ABOUTSELF as an exception to the general ban on social media as a source (as I often say, "Wikipedia is very big and nobody can know all of it"), and I hope that you can understand that they meant well. As well, I would point out thatterms like "renegade" can be hurtful.DS (talk)18:24, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was just a bit frustrated. I won't use that term again. I am hoping for a better source, honestly. Ettarh apparently has an obituary but... the link to itdoesn't come up with anything and the best I could find with an alternate source wasthis, as links likethis clam she cannot be found (and no one archived the obituary either). Considering how prominent she was in the community of librarians, I imagine that someone else will write a tribute/obituary in the coming days.Historyday01 (talk)18:29, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!

[edit]

Hey! I don't know if this is yuri or not, butsomeone added this to the yuri anime list with Anilist as the source (apparently due to user tags). Please check it out! Delete it if it's an OR, or change the source if it's actually yuri. The Japanese wiki article lists its as yuri based on the source, but it's a review within a secondary source, so I don't really know.Solaire the knight (talk)09:23, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it. I've watched most of the film myself but then got sidetracked with watching other series.Historyday01 (talk)12:54, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Judging by the English-language article, this is indeed yuri, one way or another, but I'm temporarily unable to edit the article space.Solaire the knight (talk)15:35, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
